It's a pretty good discussion. What does it mean to be a liberal thinker? What do liberals believe? If this were a message board I would say "discuss." But as this is a low-traffic blog, I will simply say "talk amongst yourselves," just so I'm not embarassed when my discussion thread falls flat.
EDIT: Fixed the link. That must be why no one's talking... Really.

when we attempt to define "liberal" and "conservative," it sadly causes us to focus more on separating everyone’s beliefs into merely those 2 categories. we will never solve anything when we are presented with only 2 options because it inevitably turns into "1 right option" and "1 wrong option." it takes away any hope of actually problem-solving each individual issue.
personally, i don't want to be stereotyped as whatever the current definition of a liberal is, i want my own opinions to be recognized. i mean, no one will ever fit 100% into one category--except most senators, somehow they always seem to vote right down party lines. weird.
i know this is probably an obvious post, but i think we need to focus more on defining our own beliefs rather than defining two narrow categories.
Completely effing brilliant. So sadly true.
And BTW, the first time I scanned the sentence "...they always seem to vote right down party lines," I read it as "panty lines." Panty lines would make politics much more interesting, I think.
